Stress Relief: Regular Yoga is key to managing the stressors of daily life. The main components of Yoga revolve around breath work and meditation. Both of which give you greater control over your mental wellness. By taking the time to focus on your mind and body connection you can give your mind the rest that you need after a long week of stressors.

Flexibility, Balance, and Mobility: Actively focusing on your body’s ability to move, stretch, and contort is the best way to keep yourself healthy as you grow older. As you age these skills become harder to upkeep. That’s where Yoga can help you out. By keeping you moving and aware of your body in the space around you, you can retain these skills. Which is essential for a long and healthy life.

Improved Quality of Life: Whether you are looking to reduce chronic symptoms such as pain, or you want to reduce your chances of getting injured, Yoga can help with it all. Now you have an idea of the gear that you need, let’s go over some great beginner poses that you can incorporate to your Yoga workout.

  1. Take 5 minutes to focus on your breathwork, keeping your mind on your breathing. Placing a hand on your chest and another on your abdomen, breathe deeply.
  2. Alternate between Cat and Cow Pose for 5 minutes: These two poses are great to go between. Both poses require you to start on your hands and knees and then vary in how your spine and pelvis are positioned.
  3. Move between Downward Facing Dog and Cobra Pose for 10 minutes: Downward facing dog is great for giving you a satisfying full body stretch. Your hands and feet must lay flat on the ground as you align your head between your shoulders and push your glutes up to the sky. Cobra Pose is the perfect solution for bad posture and feeling relieved. With the front of your thighs resting on the mat, raise the top of your body up to face the ceiling.
  4. Rest for 5 minutes in Child’s Pose: Amazing for relieving tension in your back, hips, and thighs. Performed by stretching your arms on the mat in front of you as you lay on your knees.
  5. Take your final 5 minutes in Corpse Pose: Laying on the ground with your palms facing up, let your breath return to its normal rhythm.
